Rick Santorum Has a New Fan: Who's Dave Mustaine?

Christian-Right GOP primary favorite Rick Santorum just got an endorsement from an unexpected source: Dave Mustaine.

Dave Mustaine is the front man for Megadeth. Earlier in his career he was kicked out of Metallica for his drug and alcohol abuse (they literally threw him onto a bus) before the band released its first album. Mustaine then formed Megadeth in 1983, which has been around ever since.

In an interview with Music Radar, Dave Mustaine said, "You know, I think Santorum has some presidential qualities, and I'm hoping that if it does come down to it, we'll see a Republican in the White House... and that it's Rick Santorum."

You may be wondering how Dave Mustaine could endorse Rick Santorum. The answer: Dave Mustaine is a born-again Christian, and he finds Santorum's rhetoric appealing.

Like Rick Santorum, Dave Mustaine is openly anti-gay, but has been wise enough not to pick any fights with Judas Priest's Rob Halford.

In other words, it's not that Rick Santorum's sweater-vests echo the sleeveless denim fashion you associate with Eighties heavy metal.
