This war is finally over

and the rebel leader is

dead.  Now is the time

for Sri Lanka to unite.

The last inch of land under the control of LTTE was liberated by the valiant Security Forces. This totally eliminated all top LTTE leaders, and the balance terrorist cadres trapped inside when troops foiled their last bid to escape from the Safe Zone in the early hours of yesterday disguising as civilians.

Many bodies of top level Tiger leaders including that of Charles Anthony, the elder son of Tiger leader Velupillai Prabhakaran, Intelligence Wing leader Pottu Amman, Military leaders Jeyam and Lakshman, Political Wing leader Nadesan, Peace Secretariat Chief S. Puleedevan, Black Tiger leader Ratnam Master and LTTE Police Chief Ilango were identified among hundreds of Tiger cadres killed during the fierce battle that erupted in Karayanmullivaikkal area in the early hours of yesterday.

The president has

officially declared

victory in the war.

Sri Lanka's President told the nation that a total battlefield victory has been achieved against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. Several hours after his speech video was broadcast which purported to show the corpse of the feared leader of the rebel movement.

Sri Lanka's President, Mahinda Rajapaksa, in a nationally televised address to Parliament, formally declared an end to the decades long civil war which had split the island nation.

The president says the country has been completely liberated from the terrorism of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam  a

Thanks for the post 158.

No he's as dead as a duck......... for some odd reason, although he was a monster, I can kind of understand the pain of all those youths doing protests all over the world to save him. And I kept thinking of the 10 year old son who lost his father.

I agree with you.  I can feel sorry for his family and supporters but it is better for Sri Lanka, even the Tamils in the long run, that he is gone.

Yes it is better for Sri Lanka. Otherwise there's no need to be happy about death. But we are all happy today like we have never been all our lives.

He was the ruination of the North and East Tamils and they know it 158.

Yes, it is good and yes he was a nasty, brutal dictator who broke his own rules.

Yes, it is good and yes he was a nasty, brutal dictator who broke his own rules.

At the time of his death, he didn't even have the famed vial of cyanide around his neck.
