Mel Gibson Deserves A Race Pass

As American media indoctrinates children to believe that human characteristics are identified by skin color; and the Michael Richards of the Nation are so confidence that the denigration of *Diasporans is accepted, that he openly challenged those who rebuked him for calling people in his audience, niggers, with the rhetorical question, "they're going to arrest me for calling a black man a nigger?"  And the Don Imuses of America, show their disdain for the integrity of the social and emotional life of Diasporas, by smugly informing a television audience that his executive producer, Bernard McGuirk, was hired to tell "nigger jokes."  It makes you wonder, where was all the fuss, before Mel . 

There is a backdrop of passivity about it all.  No one gets excited, there are no repetitive questions about professional survival, some incidents are even ignored by major media — perhaps because the offender, didn't offend Jews, first.

When the public didn't reject Mel  Gibson, after he said "fucking Jews," are "responsible for all the wars in the world," some folks couldn't get over it, and they've been waiting for Mel Gibson to stumble, and he did.

Ari Emanuel, the CEO of William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, the talent agency that purportedly dropped Mel Gibson, probably took advantage of the death of Mel's agent, Ed Limato, to create the impression that they were dropping him, when he probably would have moved on to another agency anyway, hoping that "dropping him" would signal others to do the same.

Ari Emanuel's interest in bringing Mel down, before this incident, is reflected in his words, after the "fucking Jews" comment:  “People in the entertainment community, whether Jew or Gentile, need to demonstrate that they understand how much is at stake in this by professionally shunning Mel Gibson and refusing to work with him, even if it means a sacrifice to their bottom line”

Both Diasporans and Jews have experienced oppression, but Diasporans have more experience in the insult department than any other group, which maybe why we're less sensitive, and why we have not taken Mel Gibson's remarks to heart.  Whoopi Goldberg says, she knows from frequent and personal interactions with Mel, that he's not a racist.  I know it too, because Mel Gibson has almost single-handedly brought more Diasporans to the screen than any other actor, in rolls that we can be proud of.  A true racist, would never do that!

"Lethal Weapon  will be remembered as the original cop buddy movie, which spawned several sequels and a dozen copycat films. In 1987, the on-screen pairing of a black actor and a white actor on equal terms was still novel, an element of the film that was also copied by its imitators."

A close examination of the man on the tape reveals a person who is sad and lonely, crying out in pain, that he has "no friends," and that he "needs a woman," and that he still wants his girlfriend, "I will give you another chance."  He was raging at Oksana Grigorieva, instead of the person who he is really mad at —  himself.  He is a 54-year-old, rich and famous man, who suspects that he has foolishly tied himself to a woman who merely wants to use him, and by allowing her to become the mother of his child, he just may have given her the power to accomplish it.

Because men are discouraged from embracing their vulnerability, they sometimes react to it with raging denial.  Mel Gibson's performance on the phone with Oksana, was not unlike the Mel we've seen in Mad Max and Lethal Weapons.  This man has a lot going on inside, that he's unable to peacefully sort out, and he addresses it like an over-tired kid, who cries himself to sleep, only Mel rants and raves until he empties himself of his emotions.  But have no fear, it's the quiet people that you have to watch out for.  The people who carry years of bottled up emotions, so that when it erupts, it cannot be contained.

Dramatic words are what people hurl when they're trying to express intense emotions.  While they should not put harassing name-calling on others, they certainly should be free to say these words in the privacy of their home.  Racism is more than just a notion, and if America is ever to triumph over it, we must stop frighten people into silence, and begin an honest dialogue.

You don't have to hate Jews to use an angry handle in describing something about Jews that you don't like.  You don't have to like everything about a group, to value and respect that group, but when your talking about what you don't like, it can easily become, "fucking Jews."   You don't have to hate women to be hateful toward a woman, and Mel was more hateful in his gender relating,  than he was respecting Jews or Diasporans.  Probably because it is in the battle of the sexes, that he feels most powerless.  Mel was commanding and berating oksana, but somewhere in his consciousness he knew that there had been a power shift.  Oksana no longer has to come to him for money, now that she has his child, she can call on the State to make him provide for her.  Finally, you don't have to hate Diasporans to envision them as wrong doers, like Mel's "pack of niggers" reflects, when you live in a culture that uses Diasporan images, to represent everything that is wrong and hated, people in a culture like that,  use words that reflect that idea. 

We live in such a culture:

Michael Douglas called a caddie nigger:  Caddie James Parker, sued Michael Douglas, claiming that while at a gulf course in Westchester County, New York; Douglas swung his club and the ball hit him in the groin, rupturing his testicle; and while he was lying on the ground, "screaming with pain," Douglas "stuffed a small amount of money into (his) pocket" and played on, saying to his companion,"I can't believe I hit the nigger." 

John Mayer claims a nigger pass: "What does it feel like now to have a hood pass?" And by the way, it's sort of a contradiction in terms, because if you really had a hood pass, you could call it a nigger pass."

Former Journey Singer, Steve Perry,  likes nigger jokes:  After Sarah Silverman, a comedian, performed, Steve Perry told her, "You’re my favorite comedian. You have the best nigger jokes."

Kanye West was called nigger in a college newspaper:  The University of Florida Newspaper, The Independent Florida Alligator,  ran a cartoon undermining Kanye West's criticism of the lack of concern shown by the Bush Administration, for Katrina victims, by caricaturing Kanye, holding a large playing card marked "The Race Card," with a caricature of Condoleezza Rice, scoffingly dismissive, saying, "Nigga Please!" 

The actor in the Tudor, Jonathan Rhys Meyer called an airline employee, and gratuitous others, nigger:  When confroned about his drunk and disorderly behavior, as he was about to board a United Airline flight, Jonathan Rhys Meyer let go with the n-word - he is now banned.

Sarah Palin called the President sambo, which is as good as nigger: After learning of the President's victory, Palin said, "so sambo beat the bitch.

Eminem sings about not liking nigger Shit:  "All the girls I like to bone have big butts/No they don't, 'cause I don't like that nigger shit/I'm just here to make a bigger hit."

Former MTV Star, Bam Margera of "the Jackass," got hit in the head for saying nigger: 59-year-old Elizabeth Ray claimed Bam was hurling racial slurs, including the n-word at her that night, and she knocked him unconscious with a baseball bat.

Paul Dawson, a high school teacher, called a student nigger:  Keysean Chavers said that his teacher, Paul Dawson, told him to "sit down nigger."

The Duke Lacross Players Accused of Rape, Called their female accusers niggers:  As the women left  they were called nigger and other racial slurs, by the Duke lacrosse players.

Tea Party members call Congressional representative nigger: staffer for Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) told reporters that Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) had been spat on by a protestor. Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), a hero of the civil rights movement, and was called a 'nigger

Duane "Dog" Chapman told his son that he should not have a Diasporan girlfriend because the family frequently used the word, nigger:  I don't care if she's a Mexican, a whore or whatever. It's not because she's black, it's because we use the word nigger sometimes here. I'm not gonna take a chance ever in life of losing everything I've worked for for 30 years because some fucking nigger heard us say nigger and turned us in to the Enquirer magazine. Our career is over! I'm not taking that chance at all! Never in life! Never! Never! If Lyssa [Dog's daughter] was dating a nigger, we would all say 'fuck you!' And you know that. Charlie Sheen called his wife, Denise, a nigger:  Charlie Sheen, April 19, 2005, telephone message to wife, Denise: Okay, I hope you rot in fucking hell. You're a piece of shit fucking liar and I hope you fucking rot in hell. So fuck you. I hope I never fucking talk to you again you fucking cunt. Fuck you. You're a coward and a liar and a fucking nigger alright so fuck you.

Michael Richards called members of his audience, nigger:

Don Imus said his executive producer was hired to tell nigger jokes:  Don Imus described the role of  his executive producer, Bernard McGuirk as that of delivering "nigger jokes" 

In America, we deny who we are, and we take turns being scapegoats for our collective sins —  according to the prerogative of major media — the instrument of our manipulation, that encourages us to forget that most racist behavior is ignored, or even covered . . .  This time Mel Gibson is the chosen scapegoat, it was previously Isaiah Washington and Helen Thomas —  perhaps next time it will be you . . .
