Acapulco Guerrero Mexico

As organized crime tries to force teachers to give them 50% of  their salaries, teachers go on strike and take the streets to protest against the escalating violence in the state of Guerrero.

Threats have been made, people are afraid of violence and  organized crime as their pleads for protection are not met the decision to march is taken. Ironically force was used to stop them. The police department anti-riot squad with 400 elements intervened. At least 15 protesters were wounded.

The conflict and the teacher“s demands for protection began since August 2011. At least 800 schools have closed their doors since.
