The Mexico subway shooting that took place Saturday during rush hour was caught on camera and the footage has been released by the government of the incident, where two people were left dead and eight were wounded.

It happened at the Balderas station in Mexico City when police stopped Luis Felipe Hernandez Castillo who was writing graffiti on the wall of one of the platforms.

Hernandez Castillo was writing "Este gobierno de criminales," or "this government of criminals," federal District Attorney Miguel Angel Mancera said. As police tried to stop him, he drew his gun -- a .38 Special handgun -- and began firing.

The footage then shows the busy platform as the train pulls in to the station, and just as the train is pulling in, Castillo is seen shouting at an officer. The crowd parts and the officer runs out of view; he is later seen dead on the platform.

A man in a white shirt runs off the tran to wrestle Castillo and he chases him around while trying to avoid being shot.

At one point he falls and is trying to get up with Castillo shoots him in the head.

Some people are still around at this point, either on the train or on the platform, and Castillo is taking refuge on the train occasionally firing his gun.

At 5:23pm, three plain-clothes police officers rush Castillo and pull him out of the train and about a dozen police officers descend on him to keep him on the ground and take his gun away. He was treated for a bullet wound in his right shoulder, but otherwise is unharmed. He now faces two counts of murder and one count each of attempted murder as well as a number of other charges.

Five other police were wounded by gunfire and three were hurt in the crush of the crowd.

It is not know why Castillo did this, and the names of the two dead police officers have not been released.
