Mia Farrow War Crimes Testimony Video: Contradicts Naomi Campbell
Mia Farrow War Crimes Tribunal Testimony At World Court In The Hague
Actress Mia Farrow testified before the Sierra Leone War Crimes Tribunal on Monday. Farrow testimony contradicted earlier testimony provided by supermodel Naomi Campbell.
Mia Farrow described how during breakfast at Nelson Mandela's home, Campbell described how she received a "huge diamond" from former Liberain dictator Charles Taylor.
...she remembered the supermodel as being "quite excited" about the diamond when she came to breakfast the morning after a 1997 charity dinner in South Africa.
Campbell's former agent, Carole White, also testified Monday, saying Mr. Taylor had promised during the charity dinner to give the model diamonds.
The breakfast incident occurred in 1997 after a party thrown at the home of Nelson Mandela. The party had a collection of unusual guests including Naomi Campbell, Mia Farrow, Quincy Jones, and of course Charles Taylor.
Prosecutors have pulled the celebrity witnesses into Taylor's trial hoping they will show Taylor was in possession of at least one "blood diamond" -- stones sold to fund wars. Prosecutors say Taylor traded guns to rebels in neighboring Sierra Leone in exchange for uncut diamonds during Sierra Leone's 1992-2002 civil war, which left more than 100,000 dead in the West African nation.
Taylor says he is innocent of war crimes and has denied ever trading in diamonds.
