At this moment, i'm watching a recording of the most recent republican candidate debate. They're currently arguing about how they're gonna kill Obama-care. ^^ This is what you call “deflection of attention toward less important problems/topics”. This is always happening in main-stream media. But it has an interesting twist: free-marketing healthcare. It's big-business elitists insisting on a profit/exploitation model for basic infrastructure. When will America wake up? What happened when we free-marketed energy supply in California? Intermittent region-wide system failures. Whole sections of California were without electricity essentially because we free-marketed energy in that state. Free-marketing basic infrastructure does not work. Again, what is basic infrastructure? Energy, our highways and roads, the internet, and yes: healthcare. Why healthcare? Let me explain from a personal story..

When i was a kid, doctors actually made house-calls! For younger readers, a house-call is when a doctor visits your house to check on a patient. Sound impossible? It actually happened when i was a kid. Why did it stop? At that time, i asked our family doctor why he didn't make house-calls anymore. He told me: “Two reasons: liability insurance and too many patients.” To explain, he could not afford to make house-calls because he had to pay for malpractice insurance which later drove up healthcare costs to the point of unaffordability. We're now stuck with an overhead-burdened industry that everyone needs! We need to regulate insurance companies to be non-profit organizations; at least municipalize them. So perhaps the solution is not to federalize healthcare totally but to municipalize insurance!

To supplement this particular solution, we need to award more scholarships and grants to selfless doctor and nursing students! Municipalizing insurance is only a partial solution to our national healthcare crisis. Supporting healthcare education more actively, rewarding smart and selfless individuals, will complete this solution realistically .. To get back to the debate, Ron Paul (of course it was Ron Paul) stopped the inane 'discussion' (deflection of public attention) about Obama-care and refocused attention on the core issue of our time: military overspending.

When i say 'overspending', i really mean any spending. As Ron Paul so aptly put it: “We simply cannot afford to be the police of the world any longer.” (Could we ever?) Thank God the Nazis and Imperial Japan were a 'one time deal' in the history of Earth. Our role as liberator and protector was also a 'one time deal' to eliminate those threats. It's only American arrogance that assumes we must continue that role.. 1984 turns out to be the most accurate prediction in political fiction: exploit the working classes to the point of slavery and use their product for fake wars in distant lands.

The reason i'm watching the debate is because i wanted to confirm, after Obama's speech last night, that we don't really have any choice about supporting the MIC: all candidates are MIC supporters. (Other than Ron Paul who because of this, has a snowball's chance in Hell for election.) It's understandable since the MIC has been only growing for the last 200 years but.. Not preferable. If all the elites that run the MIC had to put all their kids on the front lines of a war, wars would stop overnight. What baffles me is that this has been going on since 1945! And the working class has let themselves get led like sheep to slaughter! Wow! It's almost unbelievable!

Thank God for the internet, thank God for our remaining freedoms here, and thank God for the beginnings of positive change! Let's keep going! :)
