Today, August 24, 2008, in Denver, Colorado, the Democratic Credentials Committee restored full voting power to delegates from Michigan and Florida.

When the Democratic National Convention convenes on August 25, all delegates will be empowered to vote a full vote.

In February 2008, as a form of sanction for the states disegarding the national Democratic Party leadership's instructions not to hold their respective primary dates early, the two states were stripped of their delegate seats at the convention.

In May 2008, the seats were restored with each delegate's vote being equal to a half vote.

This latest action restores each delegate's vote to a full vote.

Rene, I think the Obama Camp ok'd the delegates to be restored.  But no matter what Hillary's name will be put into nomination, and possible a second but it won't pass.

These were Hillary's votes.  Does she have a shot at the nomination now?

Karen Hatter, I like this story. It's good stuff.  SC Republican party got hit with half our delegates gone because we moved up our date to be the first in the south when Florida moved its date up.  SC will get half of its delegates, won't complain, because we broke the RNC rules.

Karen Hatter, I like this story. It's good stuff. Geez, Karen, ain't Florida one of them states where votes get lost, retallied, duplicated etc?  They should get Al Gore as the official ballot counter, looker upper.

The DNC vote is a total farse.  Everyone knows it.  How can anyone be so stupid to think it is a democratic process.  The Democrats cheat in the regular elections and now they cheat in their own party elections.

I am switching from democrat to independant after the election.

The actions taken regarding the restoration of full voting rights to Michigan and Florida were meant to help bring about party unity. The decision to reinstate the status of the states in lieu of allowing their sanctions to stand was within party rules.
