Migrant labourers’ 5-yr-old daughter raped

CHENNAI: The five-year old daughter of migrant labourers Mohan (30) and Lalitha (27) from Andhra Pradesh was allegedly raped by an unknown person in the wee hours of Sunday at Navalur near Kellambakkam.Mohan believes that when his daughter went to the toilet around 1.30 am and returned, she was followed back to the house.Around 2.30am, Mohan got a call on his mobile phone. He realised that his daughter was missing. Another mobile phone he had was also untraceable.Mohan’s guess is that the person who followed his daughter called him from the missing mobile, which he must have stolen.Mohan alerted his wife and along with their neighbours the couple searched for their missing daughter in the nearby mango grove.The search party found the girl, around 3 am. She was bleeding profusely. She was taken to Chettinad Hospital and was referred to the Government Children Hospital, Egmore.An accident registration entry was made at the government hospital, which then referred her to Institute of Gynaecology for a SWAB analysis as it was sexual assault case.The duty surgeon who performed a conservative surgery said, “The external genitalia (vagina) and anus were very badly damaged. The septum between the vagina and anus was completely torn. The wound was very deep.We have cleaned the wound and have done a colostomy to divert the faeces from infecting the wound.” Police have reportedly inquired about the matter with the girl’s parents following the accident registration entry, but the girls parents could not say if an FIR had been filed.
