Anyone who thinks these 76 Sri Lankans are refugees, needs to give their heads a shake! Canada once again gets suckered as the preferred place for those who will do anything to circumvent our laws. Certainly anyone who has $45,000 dollars to come to Canada and lose all their travel documents indicating whence they came from leaves many to believe including me they are criminals looking for a way out of dodge. How many Canadians do you know yet alone any refugee has 45 grand lying around? Just imagine now the fun and games our Immigration officiers will endure questioning them and getting a Me No Understand response in any language spoken to them. Apparently though it is said they may have relatives in Canada eager to get them into Canada. Best we act now before the Federal Liberals start flying out here with IGGY complete with Liberal Voter registration papers to hand out at the docks.

I say put em back on the boat, a military escort to take em out 200 miles of our coast and point them back to Sri Lanka. Next time perhaps our Military should be patrolling outside the 200 mile limit from Canada's shores with Gunboats to ensure anyone who comes near gets shown the proverbial door back!

A ship carrying dozens of unidentified men seized off the coast of B.C. on Saturday might be part of a massive, international people-smuggling operation run by an Indonesian ship captain.

Abraham Lauhenapessy, known as Captain Bram, was recently arrested aboard a boat carrying 255 Sri Lankan asylum seekers off the coast of western Java, Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith confirmed Monday.

Some of the Sri Lankans on that vessel told officials they knew about the ship with 76 other asylum seekers picked up by Canadian authorities off Vancouver Island on Saturday.

While I agree with you here Barry, unfortunately these guys won't go anywhere until millions of Dollars are spend on legal fees fighting their deportation. Lawyers once again will get rich.

Sri Lanka and it's people tolerated their influx from India hundreds of years ago. Now the Nation was made to pay the price with sucide attacks, massacre of pilgrims, facing terrorism, demand for a seperate state, civil war, you name it! WELCOME CANADA !!! Join the Club..........

The Captain of the ship may be Indonesian. But, the real human smugglers are Tamil terrorist supporters who did it from Asian countries. Indonesia too.

Most of the proceeds then went to the LTTE. But now, they are trying to get rich by using the only trade they know.

Plenty of tourist brochures were recovered in Jaffna area during searches. To Canada, Aussie, Malaysia and Indonesia.

It is now revealed that the boat people did not start their journey from Sri Lanka. This was phase two of the operation.

Phase 1 - Leave Sri Lanka to Malaysia or Indonesia.

Phase 3 - Land in Canada. (Then the smugglers resident in Canada take over and do all the paper work, apply for asylum, dole etc.)

So, Canadians beware. There is a group of Human Smugglers (mostly Tamils) resident in your country.

Thanks Lalith, one can be certain there is a large tamil terrorist population in canada with a ready supply of immigration lawyers ready to make a BIG Profit on taxpayers money. Funny these illegals could not give any info on where they were from, but apparently their relatives in Canada come to their rescue with immigration lawyers in tow!
