Mike Tyson Meets UK Afghanistan Iraq War Heroes DMRC Headly Court
Heavyweight Boxer Mike Tyson Visits Injured UK Troops
British soldiers injured during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars were visited by ex-heavyweight boxing world champion and convicted sex offender Mike Tyson. Tyson shook hands, signed autographs and swapped jokes with soldiers and marines at the British military Headley Court rehabilitation centre in Surrey.
War Hero Gives Tyson Right Hook
Royal Marine Mark Ormrod who lost his legs and and arm in a Taliban attack in 2007 offered his metal hand out to Tyson's quipping that his was "a real right hook mate".
The disgraced former world champion said:
“You are all true warriors and heroes – it has been an honour to meet you.”
The visit was organised by charity SSAFA who have not commented yet on accusations from some groups that bringing a convicted sex and drug offender in as a 'hero' visiting heroes was perhaps a misjudgment.
Mike Tyson has not yet come to terms with his conviction for raping beauty queen Desiree Washington saying, in an unguarded admission of former sex offences, that he had "raped before" and "knew the difference"
War hero Mark Ormrod took on Iron Mike Tyson, offering him a right hook with his metal hand.
Commando Mark, who has prosthetic fingers, joked: “Now that’s what you call a real right hook, mate!”
