The talks between the political authorities of Pakistan's Bannu Frontier Region and the kidnappers for the safe release of the Canadian journalist failed on Saturday.

The custody of kidnapped journalist along with her translator and personal assistant was reportedly shifted to a militant commander Hafiz Gul Bahadur based in Miranshah, the headquarter of North Waziristan tribal agency, to decide her fate.

Earlier it was reported that the kidnappers, who held the journalist hostage, might not be Taliban but a criminal gang and might demand ransom.

Meanwhile, the family of the translator, kidnapped with the journalist, said he had stated that he was going to Bannu to condole the death of the father of a friend.

You are right, but I am afraid the kidnappers are not NP readers.
