Military drills in north Greece (Aegean Macedonia)

An ordinary people will understand these things that are happening in region as quite an accident. But unfortunately it is not. Everything was started in year 1913, the year that Macedonia was partitioned on 3 pieces, but for now I won’t go in details and I will say that this is a result of dispute using name Macedonia.

It all began after a Greek veto in Bucharest. Greek government has sent army to make military drills just few kilometers away from border with Republic of Macedonia. To make it worse, the drills were too near by villages in outskirts of the town Lerin (Macedonian) or Florina (Greek) where are living mainly Macedonians, which are suppressed and not recognized by Greek side. Well it is quite obviously that this was provocation. The things were more strained on October 13, 2008, when the local (Macedonian) citizens started the protest, because the situation was very serious. On the drills was used real ammunition, army was cannonading targets near houses of (Macedonian) citizens, heavy tanks stamped produce of the field which were in property of Macedonians.

I will remind that few weeks ago on Peloponnese local citizens were protesting against military drills, which were not so serious, like these in north Greece, but the Greek government  has decide  to withdraw troops peacefully. Do you ask why? That’s because on Peloponnese lives Greeks. In country, which is member of EU and NATO, we would expect that in north Greece (Aegean Macedonia) would happen same as on Peloponnese. But NOT in Greece. Greek government has sent immediately special police forces to stifle DEMOCRATIC protest.

Epilogue: 1 citizen injured, 4 citizen arrested. The protest was stifled in few minutes.

Next day, Greek police has detain 3 journalists from republic of Macedonia, which were the only journalists that objective reported from “crime scene”. After few hours of “fake” investigations were released and escorted to national border with republic of Macedonia. It was forbidden for them to make interview with citizens and filming in area of Lerin. Greek army continues with serious and dangerous army manoeuvres with firing cannonballs over houses of (Macedonian) citizens.

And once again Greek government terrifying citizens who don’t threat them self as natural Greeks. This is just another attempt, in almost 100 year history, to overawe Macedonians into silence. 

And Greece is cradle of democracy?
