"Behavioral screening -- the future of airport security?" It seems that the threat of terrorism will cease to exist within the next decade. New technology has been improving the methods of finding potential threats. Apparently by 2010, Israel, and possibly other countries, will be able to essentially read people’s thoughts at the airport. Listening to cell-phone conversations, or reading emails, are already a thing of the past. Now “they” can listen to your conversations through your phone even if it’s off, and with all the new mind-reading technology there’s no sense in wasting time reading emails. I’m personally not very worried about it. The technology, at least for now, is mainly to find dangerous potential criminals who are a threat to society. Most of us are law-abiding citizens, with a few minor acts of crime such as littering or not wearing a seatbelt. We have nothing to hide, and our freedom isn’t being infringed, only closely examined. This time of war & injustice will pass within a generation, as we move from a “1984” generation into a “Brave New World” generation. However, there is the possibility that the new technologies emerging could be used for evil instead of good. If “they” can read our minds, could “they” also manipulate our minds by brainwashing us? Do we trust “them” to allow ourselves to live a full and free life, without “them” controlling our food & water supply to make us unhealthy, then putting us all on drugs to “solve the problem of health & psychological disorders” and in tern control our body and mind? Yes, it is scary to think about, since it is the direction we’re heading. The alternatives of that scenario, such as world anarchy, or Sharia Law, seem even worse. If given a choice, most people of the world would choose freedom with a government that protects & serves the people, and watches only those threatening individuals who desire to bring about the destruction of the free world. We don’t really have a choice; “There is a need for a New World Order.” All we can do is hope that those in power eventually give us freedom, peace, and justice.
