The British social cohesion minister has said the UK must distance itself from the US foreign policy to prevent the growth of hatred against Britain in the Pakistani youths.
LONDON: The UK must distance itself from the US foreign policy if the Pakistani youths are to be prevented from growing up hating Britain, said the UK social cohesion minister.
The comments by Sadiq Khan, who has just returned from a fact-finding trip to Pakistan, follow the arrests of Pakistanis in the UK.
Sadiq Khan said the UK must differentiate itself from the US. “I listened to the anger and pain over the challenges that young people growing up in Pakistan face, including the anger and frustration over the US drone attacks,” he said.
“The anger and frustration at the drone attacks was huge,” Khan said. “The view they [the students] had was that the UK was somehow responsible for this. They haven’t understood this was purely a US matter. They lumped us together with the US, which to me is a poison. It demonstrates to me we have a big problem.”
He suggested the UK should look to reach out to disaffected Muslim youths by emphasising the close links between the two countries.

UK foreign policy must be based on its own national interests. not what its cousins want across the pond. I think instead of looking towards US every time UK needs to take a lead role in Subcontinent issues being its former ruler I think it is in a better position to understand the situation and having a large population from this part of the world, the people would of the reigion will welcome that.

Yes, they should do so but unfortunately the British rulers seem oblivious to the matter. After the arrest of 11 Pakistani students and possibility of their deportation despite finding no proof against them, the Pakistani parents too should refrain from sending their wards to the UK so that the British universities press their government to avoid harassment of students.
