Miraculous escape for 22 Students as Bus topples in Mussoorie

In a miraculous incident near Library Bazaar just below the Padmini Nivas Bend in Mussoorie 22 students from Tilak Dhari College from Jaunpur in eastern Uttar Pradesh escaped with minor injuries after the Private bus on which they were traveling fell In gorge around 5.00 pm after toppling and hung upside down saved by a electric wire and Oak Tree from both sides. The 120 students of TD College were on excursions in three bus and the fateful bus No UA-08-3758 was standing just below Padmini Nivas.The students who were on the visit of Kempty Fall while returning to Haridwar when this accident happened. cording to the students the bus driver was in hurry and was shouting them to board immediately but only 22 students managed to board the 40 seater  bus  the driver started the bus and could not control the speed and fell in the gorge injuring the students along with him. The Bus hung upside down for a quite while. The residents living in the cottage below were shocked at the stones that hurtled down due o the bus fall. The 108 service was the first to arrive along with local police force and the injured were rescued from the bushes and rushed to nearby civil hospital. The ITBP commandos also rushed to the scene and started the rescue operation in right earnest. The ITBP personals with ropes tied the bus to the tree and available support lest it falls on the houses below and lead to more casualties. According to the Superintendent in Civil Hospital Dr.SP Aggarwal 18 have been reported injured in Civil Hospital and 4 have been admitted   in St. Mary’s Hospital. He stated that only one was seriously injured and rest have been administered first Aid after thorough check up and released. One seriously injured has been is under observation and will be referred to Dehradun after x-ray if needed. The names of  injured are SK Yadav-19Pawan Kumar-20,Shiv Kumar Sharma-20,Kamini 19,Binod Kumar,Santosh Kumar 22,Mukeh Kumar Gaur 22,Jav Fateem-18,Amaresh Kumar Yadav-21 and others. The students who were waiting in other bus said that the driver was in a hurry and due to congested bend could not control the steering and the bus was also an old one and was giving trouble since beginning.

Rajni kumar Chairman Springdales Education Society Delhi who resides in the guest house of the school below the accident site said that the bend is accident prone due and it need to be widened to avoid such accidents. She further informed that many accident from the same site have occurred in past and the lives of the people are more important than the property. She also said that the staff below the accident site was living under the constant danger.

 OP Uniyal President Nagar Palika Mussoorie also reached the spot and directed officials for prompt action. He also agreed with the fact that road was narrow at the bend and stated that PWD department have been directed in the recently held Meeting presided by Chef Secretary of the state and this issue has been raised by him. He also said that not only this bend but other similar bends will also be widened soon.

The Students meanwhile looked in state of shock along with the teachers and thanked god for narrow escape otherwise the toll could have been even higher.

the students were agitated a he attitude of the driver since e beginning of the journey and the bus was also not properly maintained
