Liz Cheney back-lashed by Right for disgraceful attacks on lawyers who defended detainees

Former Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter, Liz Cheney, through her organization Keep America Safe, has posted a video on the internet that has prompted criticism from several quarters, including conservative Republican sectors.

The video appears to question the motivations of attorneys that represented prisoners held at Guantanamo Prison. American Bar Association (ABA) president Carolyn Lamm recently released a statement calling the video " a divisive and diversionary tactic".

Liz Cheney has been a strident supporter of her father, former Vice President Richard 'Dick' Cheney and the Bush administration's use of what it called enhanced interrogation techniques, techniques that have also been called torture.

On Friday, the conservative blog Power Line put up a post titled, "An Attack That Goes Too Far." Author Paul Mirengoff compared what Cheney was doing to the anti-communist crusades launched by Sen. Joseph McCarthy.

"It could be worse than some of the assertions made by McCarthy, depending on some of the validity of those assertions," Mirengoff said, explaining that at least McCarthy was correct in pinpointing individuals as communist sympathizers. "It is just baseless to suggest that [these DoJ officials] share al Qaeda values... they didn't actually say it but I think it was a fair implication of what they were saying."

That is more than funny!

Liberals accuse conservative christians of being the "Ameican Taliban" all the time.

Gotta love the hypocrisy!

Must be serious if the conservative republicans are criticising her as well, nice to see that it's not's only liberal "labled" people, but also "liberal minded" people who stand up up and call it like it is....maybe there's hope for conservatives yet after all.

Stejeb, I'm just glad to see conservatives trying to pull this one back in a timely fashion.

"and would have subjected the proceedings of this enemy combatant to the guarantees of his Miranda rights, which would have thrown out all evidence collected by water-boarding, would have put the US on trial, and would have led to a mistrial or acquittal.

Further, Holder has already promised a conviction, which pollutes the juror pool, a pool of New Yorkers that could not be "objective" in the first place, and Holder has said that the Sheik would not be released even if found "not guilty"."

Now it seems to me (as one of those liberals) that their rights should have come first, and that torture shouldn't have been used in the first place, so yes, damn right, the evidence should be thrown out. The US put itself squarely in this position, the US should answer for it.

To then say he would not be released "even if found not guilty" doesn't really say very much for, or foster much confidence in, the so called justice system of America.

I think the whole deal at Guantanamo stank right from the start, so the vast majority of people worldwide think, quite how the US will wriggle out of this situation with any kind of dignity remains to be seen, but hey, leave it to nutjobs to dictate policies and implement them, and you're going to get egg on your face.

My sympathies are with the innocent people caught up in this.

I think Liz Cheney is the issue here and anything she says you can be sure comes out of her Father's mouth.  She is just a puppet to good old "Dick."

As for Atty. General Holder:  Keep a little perspective here and remember the Attys. General under Bush!  Need I say more?

As for the colors, navy blue, matte white and grays are the ones to go for.
