The 22 year old Mexican beauty told the audience it´s important to teach kids family values.

Mexico's Jimena Navarrete has been crowned Miss Universe, beating 82 competitors including Miss Australia at the annual beauty pageant in Las Vegas.

Jimena Navarrete's Biography

22 year old Jimena Navarrete born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, (Mexico) was Crowned the Miss Mexico 2009 at Guadalajara, Jalisco on July 16, 2009. Navarrete is a professional model and She studied nutrition prior to her participation in beauty pageants.

The second Mexican Miss Universe ever, Navarrete replaces the 2009 winner, Stefania Fernandez of Venezuela. Miss USA, Rima Fakih, did not make the top 15 finalists.

Mexico's president, Felipe Calderon, issued a statement celebrating Navarrete, saying, "Her triumph is a source of pride and satisfaction for all Mexicans, who see in her the fruits of perseverance."
