Current Situation

The Sri Lankan war which is running over three decades has come to the final phase now.LTTE the most ruthless terrorist organization in the world is now in a critical stage. In the year 2000 LTTE controlled 76% of land in both North and East provinces.

But today situation is totally difference and they are limited to 5% of the land in North and East. Entire eastern province was liberated from LTTE’s clutches in year 2006-2007 periods. Then Sri Lankan Army liberated whole Jaffna Penninsula after pushed LTTE from Chundikulam in January 2009.Last week they captured Dharmapuram which is the last village of Kilinochchi District. Hence Today LTTE is boxed in to Mullattivu District. It is only a 333 Km2 (square Kilometer) triangular shaped land and it is encircled by 8 Sri Lankan Army Divisions plus 75 Sri Lankan Navy Boats.Ealrlier LTTE spread over around 14000 Km2 area in North and East. If Army capture 3 Km2 per day it will take another 100 days for wipe out the LTTE.Hence writer hopes April 25th  2009 will be a remarkable day for All Sri Lankans.

Everything Lost

LTTE have already lost their Administrative Capital Kilinochchi and strategically important towns such as Pooneyrn, Paranthan, Mankulam, Oddusudan, Muhamalai and Elephant Pass.Mullaittivu is the Ltte’s Military capital and it was captured 25th January 2009. Last Sea Tiger Base Chalai will fall soon  before Sri Lankans 61st Independence Day which is held to be on 4th February 2009.Also their Administrative Village Vishwamadu will fall next week.Sri Lankan Army have captured 6 of their Air Strips and believed 2 another Air tracks left in Puthukudirrippu area where final War will take place. LTTE Air Craft will disband now and use for Black Tiger Attack.

Praba's Fate

P.Nadeshan has tol to BBC that Prabakaran still with them.Velupillai Prabhakaran the LTTE Leader believed to be out of country now. He is yet 55 years old and will have an idea to re-establish the Ltte Organization later. Fleeing Tigers hide everything under the ground for use later period. They did the same thing in Thoppigala in year 2007. Hence already Tiger leader  has been to another country. At the moment there are only left Charles Anthony, Soosai, Bhanu, Nadeshan, Pottu Amman,Theepan and the  parents of Prabhakaran. Hence Sri Lankan Navy on high Alert around the clock.LTTE only left 35 Km long Coastal strip from Chundikulam to Mullattivu south which is guarded by 25 Sri Lanka Navy Fast Attack Crafts plus SBS & RABS boats.Ltte leaders have two option whether die or leave the country. They will not surrender or mix with civilions.There are over 150000 innocent civilians under Ltte control and they are kept as a human shield. According to the latest it is said there are only 50000 civilions in the War Zone.LTTE has exaggareted the amount for their benifits.It is believed around 2000 ltte tigers are currently engage with Army. Second level Ltte Tigers have three option now,surrender,mix with civilians or Fight until the death. Most probably within next two month they will surrender.

Future Lanka

Yesterday Sri Lankan Stock Exchange showed a favorable sign and it is increased by 5%.This is due to various reasons and one strong thing  might be the current Wanni Operation has came to its final phase. In coming few months would be so critical to all Sri Lankans as LTTE in last phase. Possible Bomb blast will occur targeting Military, Economic and VIP installations. Also Tiger Air Planes will be back to Colombo and Trincomalee.Sri Lankan Air Force interpreters(F7) are waiting for them. Because of  50000 civilians in the battle field troops advances may be bit slow. Hence using this delay Ltte may erect more Earth Bunds around the Puthukudiiruppu area. As Israel troops has left Gaza fighting between them and Hamas will pause and International eye focus to Sri Lankan war. Though India is still concerning on Mumbai attack and their intervention will be less.

Battle Progress

Sri Lankan valiant Troops were engaged in the Wanni Liberation Mission despite Indian Intervention, Heavy Monsoon Rain ,LTTE’s Gas Attacks and many more obstacles. They have come a long Journey and few more to Go.

The Troops of 57th Division commanded by Major General Jagath Dias is now fighting near Kalmadukulam area, south of A-35 road (Mullaittivu- Paranthan) and Iranamadu northeast. The SL Army 58th Division (Task Force 1) commanded by Brigadier Shavendra Silva is now advancing towards the Vishwamadu area. Also they are engaged with ltte near northeast of Dharmapuram.The Sri Lanka Army 59th Division commanded by Brigadier Nandana Udawatte is assault in Mullaittivu and Puthukkudiyiruppu areas. At the moment they are 4 Km away from Puthukudirruppu.The Army soldiers of 53rd Division commanded by Brigadier Kamal Gunarathne and  55th Division commanded by Brigadier Prasanna Silva is jointly pushing Ltte from Jaffna Peninsula. The Army Task Force 2 commanded by Brigadier Rohana Bandara and  Task Force 3 commanded by Brigadier Sathyapirya Liyanage advancing near east of Iranamdu Tank. Troops of Task Force 4 commanded by Brigadier Nishantha Wanniarachchi is locating near Udayarkattu Kulam and west of Puthukkudiyiruppu areas.
