As you well know I have a number of sources in the new orleans  political scene and one of my best sources is a relative of mine, he  tells me that Mitch Landrieu might get back in the 2010 new orleans mayor's race. I spoke with lawyer Trevor Bryan recently when I bumped into him at St.Lukes Episcopal church on N. Dorgenois where retiring Right Reverand Bishop Charles Jenkins performed a special baptism ceremony for Trevor's grandson and my nephew also named Trevor  in Treme, he tells me that Mitch is thinking about getting back in the race for New Orleans mayor. Trevors been a  key player behind the scenes for many years now down in New Orleans, using his Harvard degree to build a small legal empire at one point, most notable for helping William Jefferson's machine  get a foot hold  start in New Orleans politics. It makes a lot of sense considering the slow start to the mayor's race and the weak crop of candidates who have little to no money to get a real campaign going. Mitch was left with a bad taste in his mouth when Nagin came from behind to win the last time Mitch ran for mayor but if Mitch can connect with this new progressive movement going on  in New Orleans that Trevor is helping to create he will have a good chance. Oh yeah my pick for the new Bishop is Reverand Paul Johnson.

I am just a regular person, not all that active in politics but I do vote and follow the races. I received a polling call on Saturday asking a BUNCH of questions about the mayor's race in general and including Landrieu questions. I finally asked the pollster why, since Mitch wasn't running. He told me that he actually is. I know it's not against the law to lie to someone on the phone, but it convinced me that this must actually be happening 'cause it's a lot of time and money to waste if he weren't planning to re-enter the race.
