A Modern Day Hero

A paratrooper who lost a leg while serving in Afghanistan has made history by becoming the first British serviceman to return to active service as an amputee. Corporal Stuart Hale makes history

Corporal Stuart Hale is now serving in southern Afghanistan less than two years after he was injured by a mine in Helmand Province.

The 26-year-old from the 3rd Battalion, the Parachute Regiment, was one of several soldiers hurt after being caught in the unmarked minefield near the Kajaki Dam in September 2006.
