Five members of the Mohler family, a father and his four sons, that are all accused of child sexual abuse are still under investigation today. A rural property in western Missouri is being searched for bodies and buried glass jars containing notes supposedly written by children over 15 years ago that may document the sexual abuse by the five men who are in their own family.

The five accused are: Burrell Edward Mohler Sr, 77 and his sons, Jared Leroy Mohler, 48, David A. Mohler, 52, Burrell Edward Mohler Jr, 53, and Roland Neil Mohler, 47.

The Lafayette County Sheriff Kerrick Alumbaugh said he thinks there are more victims and that the public must have some information. The property was once owned by two of the five family members and they believe there are bodies located there. Three of the five above men are lay ministers in the Community of Christ Church; they have all had their licenses suspended.

Their charges include forcible sodomy, rape with a child younger than 12 and the use of a child in a sexual performance. There are also reports of forcing children in to fake marriages, beastiality, and reports of an 11-year-old having to undergo an adoption.

The allegations were first made by a 26-year-old woman  in August, and five other siblings of the woman have all accused the five men of abuse, but it is not known at this time if they are victims or just backing up other statements. The woman told of glass jars buried around the property that were filled with messages of what was happening to them.

Sgt. Collin Stosberg of the highway patrol said the adults told the children to write down their bad memories.

"That was what they were told. Write these memories down, put them in a jar and bury it and the memories would go away," Stosberg said. "It was a way for them to cope."

All five men are currently being held in the Lafayette County jail on bonds ranging from $30,000 to $75,000.

The authorities are currently investigating a sixth suspect in the case as well, but will not say who it is at this time.

Our society has become so densitized to innocent children becoming victimized by scourge like these monsters, that we fail to understand the extent of abuse and suffering the vicims endure.  We simply hear words like "abuse" or "violation", not really grasping what these words really entail.  After reading the full criminal complaint of what exactly was done to these poor children, I am sickened.  What went wrong here? Being long-time, multi-generational, well-known residents of this community, how did their behavior go unnoticed? And for so long?  One time would have been one time too many---but chronically, repeatedly, ceremoniously?  No one- the school, neighbors, CHURCH MEMBERS, sensed anything?  I don't believe that.  Someone somewhere knew, heard or sensed something.  Current laws alone fail child victims, society's "it's not my business" or concern that someone might be accused of something he/she did not do perpetuate these atrocities.  It is repulsive that we care so much more about a person being unjustly accused than our children's safety.

I believe the 11 year old girl underwent an abortion, not an adoption.
