Heavy seasonal monsoon rains often cause severe flooding and landslides in Indonesia.
Between Monday and Tuesday of torrential rains have yet hit the northern province of Sumatra.
These rains have caused flash floods in the region, about 800 km northwest of Jakarta.
At least 25 people are currently missing and 15 others were killed.
Rescue teams are always on hand to find any survivors.
Several thousand people were evacuated due to flooding of the river Sulang Alin, authorities said.
