More non-Muslims turning to Sharia courts to resolve civil disput

Increasing numbers of non-Muslims are turning to Sharia courts to resolve commercial disputes and other civil matters, The Times has learnt.
The Muslim Arbitration Tribunal (MAT) said that 5 per cent of its cases involved non-Muslims who were using the courts because they were less cumbersome and more informal than the English legal system.

Freed Chedie, a spokesman for Sheikh Faiz-ul-Aqtab Siqqiqi, a barrister who set up the tribunal, said: “We put weight on oral agreements, whereas the British courts do not.”

In a case last month a non-Muslim Briton took his Muslim business partner to the tribunal to sort out a dispute over the profits in their car fleet company. “The non-Muslim claimed that there had been an oral agreement between the pair,” said Mr Chedie. “The tribunal found that because of certain things the Muslim man did, that agreement had existed. The non-Muslim was awarded £48,000.”

How can one give proof of an oral agreement with out a witness. It certainly stupid to have just an oral agreement on an important business matter.

I feel that the Muslims within United Kingdom that have wished to live there should not be allowed to impose their laws they should observe only the laws of UK. If somebody wishes to live under Sharia law then they should seek a country that applies them.

This has to be stopped and it should be made illegal for non Muslims to take a Sharia law option. This observe the culture thing has become stupid as one seeking refuge in a foreign country because they want to live there and their children to be born there should observe the culture of the culture and laws of the country they live in. Religion of course is another matter and of course freedom to practise a religion should alway be a human right. Sharia law is nothing to do with religion and certainly should hold no power or place within the boundaries of United Kingdom.

The magority of United Kingdom have rights and the laws of the nation should protect them against the adaption of United Kingdoms culture. As a nation we British should observe the facts that when we choose to live abroad we have no other option other than to obey the law and observe the country we choose to adopt and live in.

Its time that immigrants where told to adapt to our country or go home to their mother land. The Labor government and movement has allowed immigrants to much rope and it has effected and damaged British culture.

I live in the Philippines I have chose to live here and adapt and obey the law here, I am not fully happy with some of the laws but I do not seek to change them. The people here would not allow me too and that should be the case in United Kingdom immigrants should adapt and not be allowed to change the laws, nor have their own laws.
