Got an email from the
Washington Post. The snow is still falling. They say 26 inches, and I can already see much more than that. It must be variable by area -- microclimate and such. With the Chesapeake Bay, Potomac River, Atlantic Ocean, and Shennendoah Mountains all coming into play, the area weather is inconsistent.

Between 12 and 18 inches of snow blanket most of the metro region; expect another 5 to 8 inches of new snow Saturday.
Tens of thousands of homes are without power across the region as of early Saturday morning. Metro bus service has been suspended until further notice, while Metrorail trains are only servicing underground stations. Virtually all flights are canceled at D.C. area airports.
Check back throughout the day for news updates, the latest forecasts from the Capital Weather Gang and travel advice on Get There."
