This is a new update from ynet  news service.

Sudanese government planes bombed a key town in south Darfur on Saturday, a week after it was seized by Darfuri JEM rebels, peacekeepers and insurgents said.

Bombs landed close to a base run by the joint UN/African Union peacekeeping force, UNAMID, in the town of Muhajiriya and destroyed houses, a UN official said. (Reuters)

Peacekeepers and rebels say government planes have bombed a southern Darfur area, burning homes and sending thousands fleeing.

Peacekeeper spokesman Noureddine Mezni said Sunday that the bombing the day before killed at least one child and some civilians are missing. Mezni says thousands of people fled the area after many of their homes were burned. A spokesman for the rebel group Justice and Equality Movement says at least three civilians were killed in the bombing. The government didn't immediately comment. (AP)
