The GOP presidential candidate attracted roughly the same number of viewers to his convention acceptance speech Thursday as Obama did before the Democrats last week, according to Nielsen Media Research.
It marked the end of an astonishing run where more than 40 million people watched political speeches on three nights by Obama, McCain and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. The Republican convention was the most-watched convention on television ever, beating a standard set by the Democrats a week earlier.

Indeed. Number of viewers should not be taken as a voting indicator, especially since we're talking about estimates based on Nielsen households.

The other night CNN reported that the Democratic convention, or at least the acceptance speech night for each was won by the Democrats by like 4 million households I think it was, or was it 4%? Either way, they reported that the Dems slightly led and I think they quoted neilson ratings as their source

politisite, I like this story. It's good stuff.
It is little surprise to me that more people tuned in to view the RNC. As Hollywood discovered long ago, violence sells! Many viewers were probably hoping to see the riot police out in full gear using their Taser weapons and tear gas on the estimated 600 protesters who were arrested.
Besides that, everyone wanted to meet their new prospective Vice President, or President, if 72-year-old Sen. McCain becomes unable to serve the full term of presidency, just in case the GOP wins this election and the nation is not really ready for CHANGE.

politisite, I like this story. It's good stuff.
If I were new to this I would be amazed at the arrogance of every last democrat I have talked to about Obama. But I'm not new to this. They think they represent America and if somebody, like you or me, doesn't completely agree with them then they come out with their fangs making fun of the way McCain walks or blaming the police for putting down riots by violent protesters.
Not only are they arrogant but they are just plain nasty. They claim we call people anti-American all the time but they are the ones who routinely go to that canard. Saying we murder innocent civilians, hate the poor, are racists, etc.
Democrats are hard to deal with when it isn't an election season. Now they are just unbearable.
