Most wanted ‘Wimp the Pimp’ doesn’t slip deputies
On Sept. 6 of last year, “America’s Most Wanted” aired a segment on a man named Jermaine “Wimp the Pimp” Wilson, wanted in the 2006 murder of his business partner. Saturday, the 35-year-old man’s status as a fugitive from justice ended after he was nabbed by deputies from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
“I’ll be honest with you,” Lt. Bobby Martin said yesterday, “You catch someone like that, it’s why you get up and put on your uniform in the morning. It’s why we do what we do.”
It isn’t clear how long Wilson was staying in the Weldon area or what he was doing other than running from New York law enforcement, Martin said. What ended his more than two years on the lam was a simple outing on a four-wheeler and Deputy Joe Sealey spotting him.
Sealey was on patrol around Elm and Green streets, Martin said, and saw a blue four-wheeler go by. When the driver saw the deputy, he fled and Sealey followed him to Chantilly Road, where he spotted several other four-wheelers.
With deputies Travis Clark and Corey Griffin assisting, they found the men and began talking to them. Wilson aroused suspicion when he gave a fake name and he was arrested for driving a four-wheeler on the road.
Taken into custody and to Halifax where he was about to be fingerprinted, Wilson confessed, told the officers who he was and that he was wanted in New York. “He said he was on ‘America’s Most Wanted,’” Martin said.
Lt. Neal Aycock and Sgt. Greg Richardson confirmed his identity. He was jailed without bond and is currently awaiting extradition to New York, by U.S. Marshals.
Martin said “AMW” was also notified that Wilson, who allegedly killed his business partner on Aug. 8, 2006, was caught.
According to the “AMW” Web site, Wilson, an alleged pimp, was nicknamed “Wimp the Pimp” because of what New York authorities said was a cowardly personality.
