The Mother of All Messes

OPINION: Paul Craig Roberts clearly exposes the complete disconnect between what the Republicans claim will happen should the US Government shift to Democratic Party dominance, and the total cock-up they have made of the USA globally and domestically in only seven years.  Cognitive dissonance is an understatement when it comes to the pronouncements and tactics of these desperate neocons and their inability to acknowledge their abject failure to the American people and the world.

Republicans are sending around the Internet a photo of a cute little boy whose T-shirt reads: “The mess in my pants is nothing compared to the mess Democrats will make of this country if they win Nov. 2nd.”

One can only wonder at the insouciance of this message. Are Republicans unaware of the amazing mess the Bush regime has made?

It is impossible to imagine a bigger mess. Republicans have us at war in two countries as a result of Republican lies and deceptions, and we might be in two more wars--Iran and Pakistan--by November. We have alienated the entire Muslim world and most of the rest.

The dollar has lost 60% of its value against the euro, and the once mighty dollar is losing its reserve currency role.

The Republicans’ policies have driven up the price of both oil and gold by 400%.

Inflation is in double digits. Employment is falling.

The Republican economy in the 21st century has been unable to create net new jobs for Americans except for low wage domestic services such as waitresses, bartenders, retail clerks and hospital orderlies.

Republican deregulation brought about fraud in mortgage lending and dangerous financial instruments which have collapsed the housing market, leaving a million or more homeowners facing foreclosure. The financial system is in disarray and might collapse from insolvency.

The trade and budget deficits have exploded

moonwolf, I like this story. It's good stuff.  I haven't seen that photo?  Republicans got what they asked for in 2006.  They forgot their core values.  Fiscal responcibility went away.  The figues on the economy is income and GPP are higher then under Clinton.  Taxes received are up over clinton.  Having an attack, coming off a Clinton recession following the stock market crashing.  The techs and internet stocks took billions out of our economy.

Reublicans ave some excellent plans for the future.  The problem that comes from either side is is this rhetoric or is it real.  I am personally unhappy with The president and Congress.  Both are lacking in their duties.  The only thing you hear is impeach Bush.  Well Impeaching bush will not get the congress to do their jobs.  Nancy Pelosi promiced, Ethic reform, Earmark reduction, ending the war, and getting the economy bac on track.  One must remeber in a Republic it takes a congress to push bill to the president to sign.  She is a incompetent as the President has been.  John McCain is no Bush.

Thanks for your story as always but blaming Republicans is only half the problem

Thanks Politisite.  I agree with your analysis, though I have little faith in the Republican Party returning to core historical values like fiscal responsibility and non-interventionism.  Alas the Good Old Party has been decimated by the neocons and neoliberal ideologies which dominate it today.

I haven't seen the picture, but I can understand the message.

I don't think anyone will be able to see the 'damage' that has been done until Bush has left office and everyone can sit back and reflect. It's too hard to do that at the moment.

Good stuff, moonwolf! Excellent story!

Politisite, I would disagree with you about McCain and Bush. I think he would too.

"No. No. I-the fact is that I'm different but the fact is that I have agreed with President Bush far more than I have disagreed. And on the transcendent issues, the most important issues of our day, I've been totally in agreement and support of President Bush."

"I will argue my conservative record voting with anyone's, and I will also submit that my support for President Bush has been active and very impassioned on issues that are important to the American people. And I'm particularly talking about the war on terror, the war in Iraq, national security, national defense, support of men and women in the military, fiscal discipline, a number of other issues. So I strongly disagree with any assertion that I've been more at odds with the president of the United States than I have been in agreement with him."

And Republican VP candidate from SC, Mark Sanford can't differentiate  between the two.

BLITZER: Are there any significant economic differences between what the Bush administration has put forward over these many years as opposed to now what John McCain supports?

SANFORD: Um, yeah. For instance, take, you know, take, for instance, the issue of -- I'm drawing a blank, and I hate it when I do that, particularly on television. Take, for instance the contrast on NAFTA. I mean, I think that the bigger issue is credibility in where one is coming from, are they consistent where they come from.

moonwolf, I like this story. It's good stuff. Old Farts in suits certainly do not speak for the masses, but their own pockets. Especially when it is the few who control the market speculation on oil and other goods.
