Sandy Young, the mother of 8 month old Jacob, is pleading with the nation to bring her child home.

On December 23, her husband and Jacob’s father, Maurice Young, took Jacob from the home and away from his mother in Indianapolis, IN.

According to Sandy Young’s statements on the internet radio show,Peas In Their Pods, the evening before Jacob went missing, Sandy announced to Maurice that she wanted a divorce.  There were ongoing issues in the marriage which included the fact that Maurice kept Sandy from being alone with Jacob.  Maurice was unemployed and stayed home with the child while Sandy worked outside the home, supporting the family.  Sandy has also stated that she never saw signs that Maurice was abusive towards Jacob, and that she would never isolate the child from his natural father, and wished he felt the same towards her as the child’s mother.

Sandy expressed to Maurice, since the relationship between them was ending, that she wished to spend Christmas Day with Jacob, without Maurice’s presence, alone with her child.  She has said that all along she only wanted what was best for Jacob, not to disturb his schedule, not to disturb his relationship with his father.  Maurice seemed to go along with her request, but in the afternoon of December 23, after texting Maurice that she would be home soon, he cut off texting, and when she returned home, he was gone and so was Jacob.  She later realized that he had packed a small bag, and her fears were validated, she then contacted local Indianapolis Police.

Due to the fact that Sandy and Maurice were not married at the time that Jacob was born, a new set of problems beset her.  According to authorities, since there were no custody orders in the system, being the father, Maurice had every right to take the child, and no missing persons report would be filed, no Amber Alert would be issued because the case did not meet the requirements.

Sandy, at that time, took it upon herself to spread the word and reached out to the internet, her circle of friends, and locally with fliers to bring attention to the fact that her child was missing.  After contacting an attorney, getting the proper paperwork filed with the courts, a report was finally taken and she says that now there is police involvement as well as FBI since Jacob was taken across state borders.  Jacob’s case information has been entered into the proper data bases and with NCMEC (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children).

Finding a number to a Nashville, TN homeless shelter in the home, Sandy began using contacts through homeless agencies and was able to get a location in a Nashville, TN homeless shelter that said Maurice and Jacob were taking refuge.  Sandy immediately drove to Nashville, but says word must have gotten to Maurice and he reportedly left with Jacob on a Greyhound bus for Atlanta, GA.

Again, Maurice was spotted at the Atlanta Union Mission in downtown Atlanta, only this time he did not have Jacob with him due to restrictions not allowing children in the facility.  That was the last place that it’s reported Maurice has been seen.  There is indication that he may have relatives in the area, but according to Sandy, when contacted, they did not know his whereabouts.

The most important issue at hand is that Jacob Young must be located.
