MP Aidan Burley 'Sorry' for Nazi Stag Party
Tory MP Aidan Burley at Nazi-Themed Bachelor Party in France
Aidan Burley, Tory MP for Canock Chase, was filmed dressed as a Nazi at a stag party at Val Thorens, a French ski resort. Burley is now fighting to keep his political career alive.
The bachelor party was for Mark Fournier, who went to Oxford with Burley. Aidan Burley apologized once photos and video footage of the stag party went public: "There was clearly inappropriate behaviour by some of the other guests and I deeply regret that this happened. I am extremely sorry for any offence that will undoubtedly have been caused."
However, calls continue to mount either for Burley to step down, or for PM David Cameron to fire him.
Aidan Burley was jokingly described as the “candidate for Berlin East” at the stag night at which one friend dressed in an SS uniform and others were said to raise toasts to the Third Reich and chanted “Mein Fuhrer”, it was reported.
Aside from being crass, wearing Nazi regalia in public is illegal in France. Just ask John Galliano how well praising Hitler goes over among the French.
