The moans and groans of impoverished MPs grew all the louder last week. We asked a top civil servant, Sir Thomas Legg, to audit our accounts and now many are screaming about the fact that he has.

While I beam a hello to every passing MP, many avoid eye contact and march on by.

'You do not speak for me,' bellowed one senior ex-Minister on Monday in front of assembled MPs. It feels like that moment in the film Midnight Express when inmate Billy Hayes turns around and walks against the flow of the treadmill, to the horror and disgust of the other inmates.

The Gentleman's Club of Westminster, with its secretive rules and arcane procedures, is an institution in more ways than one.

like all institutes and organisations
The good the bad and the ugly. The expenses scandals are not a figment of our imagination. It has been proven time and time again the greed factor in the political offices. The rule of thumb with thieves,is dont get caught.
The MPs who have been greedy when it comes to their expense accounts should be punished just as the common man in the street would be for stealing a purse.
As for the gentlemens private clubs, where they wine and dine and smoke big fat Cuban cigars, and kid themselves they are the echelon of society.Over the years many of them have been proven to be no more than whoremasters,Hypocrites and down and out blatant liars.

Its sickens me that our MPs have two homes or more, while people sleep on the streets. It sickens me how our troops are sent to war ill equipt to fight. The young soldiers who return home in a body bag because the equiptment they have been provided with to fight a war is not up to standard. The young soldiers who return wounded and scarred by their traumatic experiences, dont want medals or regalia, they need homes and proper care and attention.

Not all politicians are rogues, some do work hard and try to make a difference, but it seems the honest ones are few and far between. God help us all.For recent reports tell us many of our MPs are blatant liars and thieves, who all cover up for each other. The old school tie has a lot to answer for.
