Muhamalai 2nd FDL Captured by Sri Lanka Army
Sri Lankan soldiers of 53 and 55 Divisions came from KILALI and MUHAMALE FDL's captured strategic PALLAI town early today morning 8th January 2009.Meanwhile THE Government of Sri Lanka, following close scrutiny of old Tiger (LTTE) atrocities finally banned the LTTE organization in Sri Lanka from Wednesday (7) evening after the Cabinet approved it.
THE 2nd existing LTTE’s Forward Defence Line (FDL) in MUHAMALE, was completely overrun and captured by Sri Lankan Army Tuesday 6th January 2009, bringing another blow to the LTTE. Advancing troops of the 53 and 55 Divisions, commanded by Brigadier Kamal Goonaratne and Brigadier Prasanna Silva respectively dominated the LTTE FDL forcing the enemy to retreat.
The captured LTTE Defence Line, lying about 500 m ahead of the troop deployment in MUHAMALE was hurriedly vacated by terrorists as the multi-pronged troop attacks went on pounding them. According to ground troops, terrorists who have lost many of their fighting cadres during ensuing battles withdrew further towards the southeast with their casualties as troops started dominating the FDL. Troops are now consolidating their positions in the newly captured areas
Earlier Sri Lankan Soldiers captured the 1st Forward Defence Line (FDL) Mukamalaai and Kilaly 20th November 2008 ,pushing the Ltte lines 800m southward.
Muhamalai is the gateway to the Jaffna town from A9 Road. Both parties erected strong bunker lines closes, the gap is about 100m to 700m.Sri Lanka Army 53 and 55 Divisions engaged in the Lines.LTTE will leave tha FDL soon as 58 Division is closing to Elephant Pass.Special Thanks Army.lk
