Munnabhai enters politics, to contest from Lucknow

Bollywood film star Sanjay Dutt will be the Samajwadi Party candidate to contest the next Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow, the party announced here on Thursday.

Bollywood heartthrob Sanjay ‘Munnabhai’ Dutt was on Thursday named as Samajwadi Party’s nominee for contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from the prestigious Lucknow constituency.

While announcing his candidature, party general secretary Amar Singh said, “Dutt told me you are like my elder brother. He said he would do anything I ask him to though he said he was not a political person.”

However, Amar said that if Sanjay was disallowed from contesting the elections because of the criminal cases against him, the party would move the Election Commission or the Supreme Court. Incidentally, Sanjay’s sister Priya is already a Lok Sabha member from Mumbai
