Jahmal Mason-Blair, 17 and a keen footballer, was stabbed to death on Amhurst Road, Hackney, London some time after midnight BST. He was found stabbed in the neck and pronounced dead on the scene by police officers who were routinely passing by. The area around the murder scene was cordoned off and flowers were being left nearby as a tribute to the popular teen. On hand were school friends and the school chaplain.

So young its a shame and a great tragedy, my heart goes out to his mum and dad and close family.

Such a promising future - I wonder why he was killed?

Apparently a 13-year-old boy has been arrested:

Scotland Yard said the 13-year-old was arrested in east London at 2030 BST and was being held at a police station.

A post-mortem examination on Jahmal will be carried out on Sunday.

I have added some photos of the tribute to Jahmal, with apologies that in the captions I spelled his name wrong. Yesterday I thought of the great sadness for Jahmal's mother and family. Today I am thinking about the great sadness for the mother and family for the very young suspect in custody. I hope the whole story comes out.
