New Delhi:

sunday June 1

Over 15,000 thousand muslims gathered Delhi's famous Ramlila ground to fight against Global Terrorism.

The Gathering comprised of large number of religious leaders, scholars, filmmakers and many different muslim organisations who pledged to fight against the menace of teorism together.

The Fatwa was issued by Darul Uloom and Deoband,The supreme body of Majoity Sunnis,a body authorised to issue Fatwas.

It is a good move taken by the sane muslim society, but it is to be seen if it will have any affect on the maniacs scattered around the world.

Pleae comment if you think it will help in curbing terrorism.

My question,Is Islam to be blamed for terrorism?

It might make a difference, but I think the gathering is still too small to have any real impact.

Interesting video choice for this story - I didn't really understand the comparison to be honest!

well Amy, did not find any video or picture of large muslim gathering or mosque,if did not like it sorry for that. Yes The gathering is small But the muslim population in India Listens to these authorities,Darul Uloom represent 6000 madarsas all over India. They are considered as hardliners so in a way it is good step forward. At least the will to change is there.

If you have any befitting picture or video do add in,Ihave limited tools with me.

Thanks for being part of this story which requires mebers views on this development

cheers

Hi aazy, the "world" tag is in your list of tags. That means it *should* have shown up under "World" news for awhile. Did it disappear from front page as things cycled but didn't disappear from the local listing for you? That being asked, I've found "local" for me to include some very weird things that aren't close to local!

On the whole, I think that anyone or any group stepping forth against terrorism is a good thing.

You know, sometimes when the systems go into "glitch" mode--and I'm not saying this happened here as I don't know--it just can be so darned confusing.

In my opinion 1500 thousand isnt such a small number. It is a promising beginning and one that needs to be replicated in other places too. And this should be across the board: Muslim religious leaders as well as other groups, other religions, other leaders who command large followings.

Rumana there is some confusion about the numbers it is 15000 not 1500 to make it clear i have edited in the original post too,My mistake, sorry for inconvenience folks

Speaking of terrorism:

George W. Bush committed hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism (indicated in my blog).

George W. Bush did in fact commit innumerable hate crimes.

And I do solemnly swear by Almighty God that George W. Bush committed other hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism which I am not at liberty to mention.

Many people know what Bush did.

And many people will know what Bush did—even to the end of the world.

Bush was absolute evil.

Bush is now like a fugitive from justice.

Bush is a psychological prisoner.

Bush has a lot to worry about.

Bush can technically be prosecuted for hate crimes at any time.

In any case, Bush will go down in history in infamy.

I am not sure where I had read it before, but anyway, it is a linguistically excellent statement, and it goes kind of like this: “If only it were possible to ban invention that bottled up memory so it never got stale and faded.” Oh wait—off of the top of my head—I think the quotation came from my Lower Merion High School yearbook.
