A postcard featuring a cute puppy sitting in a policeman's hat advertising a Scottish police force's new telephone number has sparked outrage from Muslims.
Tayside Police's new non-emergency phone number has prompted complaints from members of the Islamic community.
The choice of image on the Tayside Police cards - a black dog sitting in a police officer's hat - has now been raised with Chief Constable John Vine.

Would this picture have been kosher for these bereaved Muslims if the dog were wearing a burqa?

Bad boy! But funny, right-on boy, here's a cookie. And thanks for the flag.

I don't get it. Why would a muslum have an objection to a postcard of a puppy siting in a policeman's hat? I've seen the postcard- and it simply depicts a dopey looking puppy, a police hat, and a yellow phone! So I asked a bit about these religions/cultures and found out that they don't like dogs. (I dont like dogs either- particularly if they bark.) But I wouldn't call the cops if I saw a picture of a dog. Lets file this one under stupid overreaction.

I would love to call it a "stupid overreaction" as well but I think that time has come and passed us a long time ago.

danphoto and Big T, interesting comments. I think now we're bending over so backwards to accommodate people who have no intention of flexing themselves to fit into the culture of where they moved to that we're in deep deep doo doo.

PEP, I like this story. It's good stuff. Saracens in Scotland!? Where did these people come from? Are they going to riot over this?

Oh, they've migrated into every bit of Western culture they can. They want a better life in other lands, but they also want to enjoy that comfy lifestyle while also insisting that they don't have to participate in nor respond to the place to which they moved. In other words--it's good enough to reap the benefits of, but not quite good enough to live in without having special exceptions on just about everything.

let's not over react on this issue, let's peace upon earth...

Hi, I see people discussing here, but I don't see over-reaction. Did I miss something? Folks are used to discussing things on my stories, quite calmly even if they disagree. I've really only had 3 flamers/over-reacters/personal attackers ever show up, and one, I think, no longer posts here.

Hi Paschen, thanks for the read and the flag. You're right, this hyper-sensitivity only leads to bad feelings and chaos.
