MUSSOORIE, 5 Sept: The Nagar Palika, here, intends to create and develop new tourist spots in Mussoorie. This was stated by Nagar Palika President UP Uniyal. In an exclusive talk with Garhwal Post, he said there was a lot of land lying vacant near “Chammar Khudd” above the Makinnon Pump House, which belongs to the Nagar Palika.
Earlier, there was a proposal to build a swimming pool, there, which could not take off. He added that a survey would be initiated at the Nagar Palika Board level to look into the probability of making a sports stadium there. He also said that after assessing the area, other avenues like making a lake would also be looked into, which would help increase employment and add to the revenue of the Nagar Palika.
Shoorvir Bhandari, resident of Spring Road, welcomed the efforts being taken by the Palika. He said, “There is ample water available to create a water kingdom in the area.”
Right now, the natural water spring is being used for washing cars and as a platform for drinking liquor.
He suggested that parking could also be constructed in the area, thus improving the parking situation in Mussoorie.
OP Uniyal said that the entire idea was in the nascent stage at the moment.
