My heart goes out to the terrorists...

My sympathies to the 20 year somethings that shook Mumbai off its routine.

3 days on... and the rescue operations still being carried out. Oh, now that was enough entertainment. The people are bored of the News channels showing the same footages and the same terrorist drama. The boredom has set in. The passion to fight terrorism faded again. Enough of terrorist talk. Now let's get back to routine...the long slumber - which may yet again be shaken and this time pray it's not us that has fallen prey to another set of 20 somethings.

When thinking of these 20 somethings, I wonder what must have they thought for themselves. Or has someone just taken away their right to think of themselves. At this point too there may be several kids whose innocence is being replaced with hatred, even before they could understand the world and get the love that they deserve. Even when they reach out to the Muslim brothers in India, who they think are oppressed and tortured, they don't realize one thing, that Muslims in India feel far more secure and better in life than the Muslims in Pakistan itself, from where these messengers of Allah hail.

But, there is no point cursing these kids because they have seen only one world - the one showed to them by some extremists. The people who can help, according to me, has to be the common people in Pakistan, by not blindly following a few idealists and saving their kids from falling prey to such menaces.

Also, Muslims in India can come forward and inform these people that they feel more secure and have better opportunities to flourish and progress in life in India. However, the major population of Muslims here who are not educated most often tend to get into terrorist activities. It's here that our educated Muslim brothers can play a vital role by reaching out to the less fortunate brothers and pulling them out of the hell that they live in.

May peace prevail...

Too bad, one terrorist wearing a ski mask was flushed out the window of the control center. [kaboom]

very disturbing indeed. and there is a sense of helplessness all over. we tried setting up civil training camp. but for that we need approval from ministry. damn.

you have a good point:

comparing muslims in america (usually middle-class, educated, suburban) vs. europe (more poor, less educated, inner-city)...  in america they're happy; in europe they're chanting "Death to ..... america, denmark, the pope, etc etc etc."

So , you have sympathy for the terrorists, eh? what about shedding a tear or two for the victims?

I would not shed a tear for the victims. Because, we have ourselves become the cause of being victimized. It's high time that instead of running around for securing our own lives, we face them, getting rid of fear and bully them down. they were 6 to 7 and fully armed, agreed. But, if the mob could have went into a madness, they could have been trashed. I will not shed a tear. No need to sympathize ourselves.

Hey Reshmi,

Got to know about this article from Priyesh. It is indeed sad to see someone almost our age getting into such activities... :(

I wish they could also get the love & care that we did. Infact, I too sympathise with the guys who went out killing people...

My heartfelt condolenses to the families of the brave NSG's & policemen who lost their lives. Also, to those who lost their near & dear ones in the massacre.

One more thing Reshmi... I do not completely believe that they are doing this in the name of religion...

Like a gentleman on TV very righly said that "the terrorist community is the most secular community. Their guns do not see if the person getting killed in a Muslim/Hindu or Christian!"

Overall content is very good! Keep up the good work :)

Regards,

Nithya.

I do understand your Post and can agree with some of it, however I think you may be a little to blunt and to black and white as a matter of specking. It is even more complex and yet very simple at the same time.

As you say "But, if the mob could have went into a madness, they could have been trashed. I will not shed a tear. No need to sympathize ourselves."

The people on Flight 99 on 9/11 "went into a madness" and stopped the destruction by one of the group of highjackers.  So I think I understand what you mean.

The oppressed people (Jews) in the Warsaw Ghetto tried to stand up to the threat but could not stop their own destruction.

In the end the question becomes "Do we allow the violence?" or "How do we start to communicate and start to end the violence that has overtaken the planet?"

You've written a good opinion, in the end, in a small way maybe it can help start a dialogue.

I was not aware of this. Thanks for sharing. It would be nice to hear more stories of mobs taking over terrorists.
