My New Facebook Friend John McCain (who Deleted me)
Satire:
John McCain asked to become my friend on Facebook. I didn't want to hurt his feelings, so I accepted.
Of course, right away, what's-her-name Palin sent me a request too, but sensing her hubbie Todd was really the one behind her account request, I clicked Ignore. I had to do that many times, cuz I kept on getting repeated Friend Requests, with messages like "Us girls, we gotta support each other!" and "Together we can change the world!" and "Aren't you Pro-America?".
I started to think it was a Robo-Friend-Request so I sent a message:
"Whatsup with the 150 thousand dollar spending spree?"
She (or he, if it was indeed Todd) answered, "You know, we're real Mavericks - after I wear 'em we're gonna put these clothes on e-Bay and you'll see, we'll raise millions of dollars for charity! Tons of guys are ready to drop real bucks for my sweat scented jackets worn on the Campaign trail ."
I couldn't help but think she's got a point, and that it was a pretty Mavericky idea. Still, I didn't want be her friend ... and I told her so. "Terrorist" she answered back.
Finally, I sent a complaint to the Facebook team which seemed to block her.
Then I headed to Photos to take a look at some of the pictures of that trip he made in Chile when he visted Pinochet. There was a great picture tagged Cindy, John and some guy called Marco Cariola in the Album "Cariola's Love Estate" atop of 3 shiny horses, with comments that kinda made me cringe like, "Cindy and I rode like the wind". I clicked through to Marco Cariola's profile and couldn't believe it! General Augusto Pinochet was amongst his Top Friends ! Didn't he already die in 2006 ??? What's the policy for people who are dead in Facebook?
Back to John's profile, I saw he got a Hug from Henry (Kissinger) and a message on his Wall, "Let's do dinner.. I'll bring out some vintage Chilean wine from the cellar".
What was up with the Chilean theme?
A quick Google search for Kissinger Chile McCain turned up these results.
And an item about the November 30, 2008 publication of 15,502 telephone conversations Henry recorded and transcribed called "telcons" by the National Security Archive. He might be in Hot Water right after the elections !
I quickly sent John a Private Message:
"Dude, do you know Henry K might be a War Criminal ? If I were you, I'd Friend-Delete him ! "
Next thing you know, I was Deleted - John wasn't amongst my friends anymore! I couldn't believe it - I thought he'd appreciate the heads up - he's certainly not getting enough of that from his campaign team!
Oh well - he was peppering my FunSpace with too many wierd ads that I spent way too much time deleting.
In their first substantive conversation following the military coup in Chile, Kissinger and Nixon discuss the U.S. role in the overthrow of Allende, and the adverse reaction in the new media. When Nixon asks if the U.S. “hand” will show in the coup, Kissinger admits “we helped them” and that “[deleted reference] created conditions as great as possible.” The two commiserate over what Kissinger calls the “bleating” liberal press. In the Eisenhower period, he states, “we would be heroes.” Nixon assures him that the people will appreciate what they did: “let me say they aren’t going to buy this crap from the liberals on this one.”
