May 19th, 2008 @ 2:26 pm Hong Kong time. I was walking along streets nearby Central HSBC building. By 2:28 pm all the cars slow down and started all these horn sound, some people along the street stop and lower the head for three minutes to mourn the victims were killed from 5.12 China earthquakes. After that, the street was back to normal.

Thanks for the story. We tend to have Big Ben to listen on these occasions.. and car horns.. is this a 'China' thing? I quite like it as everyone with car can get involved in the mourning. It is emotional.

Yes indeed, this is kind of a chinese community thought that car horn thing are for the driver that were unable to stop for mourn. So the driver can express their mourn by car horns.
There are other organization participate with the mourn, one of HK's TV channel changed from colorful logo into black and white color for 3 days.
Another channel stop all regular TV commercial for 3 days and offer free of charged TV commercial air time for charity to raise fund.
