Mystery Vessel boarded near Victoria: People smuggling?

A breaking news story from CHEK-TV in Victoria, British Columbia at 5 pm Pacific Time:

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) stopped and boarded the Ocean Lady early this morning. With coastguard support and a Canadian warship escort the vessel docked at Ogden Point at about 5.30 pm, a five minute drive from downtown Victoria.

Information as to the origin of the vessel has not yet been announced. However, it has been reported that the vessel is thought to be used to 'smuggle' 76 people into Canada. The human cargo are said to be from Sri Lanka, although no breakdown of men, women, or children is mentioned or whether the passengers are Tamil Tigers fleeing arrest in Sri Lanka.

More information is expected at the 6pm news  broadcaste.
