N Korea 'tests weapons on children'

More details of the secretive N. Korean nation have emerged with the disclosure of a former N. Korean military captain revealing that the country tests biological and chemical weapons on children.  The government's prevailing attitude is that if a child is mentally or physically challenged their best contribution to society is as a test subject for biological and chemical weapons.

When Im Chun-yong made his daring escape from North Korea, with a handful of his special forces men, there were many reasons why the North Korean government was intent on stopping them.

They were, after all, part of Kim Jong-il's elite commandos - privy to a wealth of military secrets and insights into the workings of the reclusive regime.

But among the accounts they carried with them is one of the most shocking yet to emerge – namely the use of humans, specifically mentally or physically handicapped children, to test North Korea's biological and chemical weapons.

Other refugees from N.Korea have claimed that people were being moved from concentration camps to 'chemical factories' from which they never return.  It is widely accepted that N.Korea has large stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons.

The extent of the stockpile is a concern to Kim Sang-hun, a retired UN official who has spent years investigating the North's chemical and biological weapons programme.

He believes over the past 20 years, the programme has advanced at a startling pace, specifically because the country’s rulers approve and support the use of human test subjects.

The range of missles tested recently by N.Korea puts Russia, China, S.Korea and Japan within striking distance.

What I worry about on report like this is Chun-Yong could be working for South Korea's intelligence services of which reading between the lines is a correct assumption. We only have his words to back this horrifically story up and no other separate testimonials or photographic proof.

What I worry about is the propaganda factor as there are people within South Korea that would wish United Nations would go to war against North Korea. we have seen two wars start mainly on the weight of propaganda in Afghanistan and more especially in Iraq.

This report has come out at a point when North Korea is less news worthy to me it smells of possible propaganda issued by South Korea.

Good points to think about.  It could be as valid as "Iraq has weapons of mass destruction."
