For the first time in Canadian history, Nova Scotia will have an NDP government, and for the first time since 2003 the province will also have a majority government.

The NDP won 31 seats with 45% of the popular vote, while the liberal won 11 seats with 27% of the popular vote.

The PCs were the big losers reducing their total seat to 10 with 24% of the popular vote.

A historic win by Darrell Dexter's New Democratic Party ended a decade of Progressive Conservative rule in the province.
