Nader on Acting Black

So, is he black enough? Following a long line of “authentic” blacks and people who know “authentic” blacks (What, you haven’t heard? Read Time) Ralph Nader has decided that it is his place to decide Obama’s blackness. From the Rocky Mountain News:

“There’s only one thing different about Barack Obama when it comes to being a Democratic presidential candidate. He’s half African-American,” Nader said. “Whether that will make any difference, I don’t know. I haven’t heard him have a strong crackdown on economic exploitation in the ghettos. Payday loans, predatory lending, asbestos, lead. What’s keeping him from doing that? Is it because he wants to talk white? He doesn’t want to appear like Jesse Jackson? We’ll see all that play out in the next few months and if he gets elected afterwards.”

The Obama campaign had only a brief response, calling the remarks disappointing.

Asked to clarify whether he thought Obama does try to “talk white,” Nader said: “Of course.

“I mean, first of all, the number one thing that a black American politician aspiring to the presidency should be is to candidly describe the plight of the poor, especially in the inner cities and the rural areas, and have a very detailed platform about how the poor is going to be defended by the law, is going to be protected by the law, and is going to be liberated by the law,” Nader said. “Haven’t heard a thing.”

Sick.

But what I think is sicker than this is that every single person on the left just ignores it. Oh, sure, they’ll jump on a Fox News intern for putting “Obama’s baby’s mama” as a caption (even though Ms. Obama has used the term to describe Mr. Obama - my “baby’s daddy“) but when it comes to overt and crippling racism like this - not a peep.

It is stuff like this that reinforces my belief that race in America is nothing more than an industry. We have “reverends” like Sharpton and Jackson threatening lawsuits against Fortune 500 corporations unless they do what they say (which, interestingly enough, usually involves a transfer of cash).

Earlier in the year Joe Biden (D, Delaware) said this:

“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

And yet he’s still firmly ensconced in the Senate with all his power still intact.

This is just sick.

So what are we suppose to believe? Well, if you’re a liberal and talk frankly, you believe that blacks are not articulate, bright, clean, or nice looking. You believe that blacks should only give a crap about what happens in the ghetto because, well, they’re all just crack dealers who sleep with hos.

Basically, blacks are just the “others.” Yeah, we can bring them out to stand behind us at rallies because they add a certain kind of ambiance to the rally but beyond that - NO BLACKS ALLOWED.

I’m just wandering when they will start throwing Oreos at Mr. Obama like they did with Michael Steele. Maybe if he goes a whole week without getting in touch with his “roots” they will start the cookie bombardment.

Personally speaking, I don’t care what color Mr. Obama is. I could care less. Doesn’t matter.

But liberals do. Whenever they see a black person their butt cheeks tighten and they think “photo-op!”

Just remember that these statements come from the party that gets 90% of the black vote. They are suppose to represent blacks (whatever the hell that means) better than anyone else. That being the case, is it any wonder why the black community suffers so much today? Their party keeps them down.
