Najib is a member of the United Malays National Organisation UMNO, and is currently the president of the party.United Malays National Organisation, right-wing party, Malaysia's largest political party; a founding member of the Barisan Nasional coalition, which has been Malaysia's ruling political party since independence.
King, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin gave an hour-long audience to outgoing Abdullah Ahmad Badawi after the meet the media asked what happens now that he has resigned, Mr Abdullah said: “It's up to his majesty now.” The Government officials confirmed king had agreed that deputy Prime Minister Najib could be sworn in as Malaysia’s newest leader.He is the  new prime minister on Friday,transition that has been one year in making. The swearing-in of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as Malaysia’s sixth Prime Minister before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara today.Special programmes have been lined up for today and over the weekend.
