A fire has broken out at the Palms Harbourside Marina in Nanaimo, British Columbia, and the fire is jumping from shed to shed, burning boats.

Nanaimo is located on Vancouver Island.

Fire jumping from shed to shed and burning boats drifting into the channel.
It is unknown exactly what occurred or how extensive the fire and damage is at this time.

Yet another one. Just last week a fire broke out in Downtown Vancouver Harbour Marina.

The local daily paper carried more news about this spectacular fire.  That area has a number of marinas.  Last year several boats were damaged at the Nanaimo Yacht Club in a fire there.

Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the dramatic fire that started shortly after 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Palms Harbourside Marina, while boat owners may have passersby to thank for limiting the fire's destruction.

Three boats were destroyed by the fire and others may have sunk in their slips at the Stewart Avenue marina. Two boats were cut loose and allowed to drift away from the vulnerable boat sheds to the deeper water of Newcastle Channel. Crews doused the drifting boats while Nanaimo firefighters fought to control the burning docks.
