Police Allege that AWOL Soldier Naser Abdo Planned to Attack Fort Hood Soldiers

Naser Abdo, the soldier who went AWOL after being charged with possessing child pornography, was arrested on July 28. Killeen, Texas police found bomb-making materials in Abdo's motel room; and radical Islamist literature, a handgun, and a bomb components list in his backpack.

Abdo, 21 years old, is alleged to have been planning an attack on soldiers from Fort Hood. Police were tipped off by the owner of Guns Galore, the same gun store from which alleged 2009 Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hassan had purchased weapons. The gun store proprietor said that Abdo was acting suspiciously.

Naser Abdo is being held by Killeen police.
