Despite a Pennsylvania Couple Saying They Had Snapped a Picture of Natalee Holloway's Remains Under Water, No Body Has Been Found and the Search Has Been Called Off

Authorities in Aruba have been searching for Natalee Holloway's remains after a Pennsylvania couple said they took a photo of what they believed to be the missing girl's skeleton under water, but the search has now been called off after finding nothing.

Natalee Holloway has been missing for five years and her body has never been found. This photo renewed interest in the case, but the search has proved fruitless.

Police did not reveal the location of where the photo was taken, for fear that onlookers would flood the location, and Holloway's mother has not commented on the photo either.

"When I looked at that photo, I said, 'By darn, that certainly does look like a skeleton,' " John Muldowney told HLN's "Nancy Grace" last week. "You can see the skull. You can see where the eye sockets were. You can see where the chin was.

"It's lying flat on its back. And its arms are cradled around. You can almost see fingers. And then on the one sleeve it looks like some kind of maybe clothing that's deteriorating."

The authorities have followed leads since the disappearance of the 18-year-old in 2005 and both police and John Muldowney's doctor did state as well that the photo appeared to show human remains that had been weighed down by rocks. However, nothing has been found.

Joran van der Sloot is still the main suspect in the case and remains free. Authorities say there is not enough evidence to arrest him.

Wow you don't even know what happened and your making a snap judgement?? That is disgusting. No human being no matter how "slutty" in anyone's eyes deserves death for enjoying a vacation and trusting another human being. You should be ashamed of yourself. How about you say that to her parents? Unbelievable to me completely unbelievable.BTW the same man who was questioned in her death is now wanted for the death of another woman found in HIS hotel room.

well I think she was drugged. I have a friend how was sliped a date rate drug while we were out to have dinner and open our xmas gifts, She is not a slut and we new she was drugged . It happens all the time you men all think because we go out to a bar and resturant we are all sluts. Jerk!!!

I don't believe nature was to blame for some conceited rich psychopath DRUGGING, RAPING, BRUTALLY MURDERING, AND THEN DUMPING THE BODY of an unsuspecting young girl on her HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR TRIP!!!! Obviously you condone rape and murder. I must assume you are an unaccomplished jealous piece of scum. I assume the newest woman he chose to BRUTALLY AND SAVAGELY BEAT AND MURDER was to blame as well???? It is these women"s fault that this man is a sadistic psychopath??? Face it Natalie, Gary has a point. She got drunk, got into a car with 3 strange men, in a foreign country, and ended up dead. No one with an ounce of intelligence does that.
