McCain Caught Lying To Boost VP's Experience

Media watchdog says NBC and Fox both failed to challenge false claims by Sen. John McCain.

.

NBC, Fox didn't challenge McCain's false claim that Obama was community organizer when Palin was in office

Summary: During separate interviews on NBC's Nightly News and Fox News Sunday, Sen. John McCain falsely claimed that Sen. Barack Obama was a community organizer when Gov. Sarah Palin was in elected office. Neither NBC's Brian Williams nor Fox's Chris Wallace noted that McCain's claim is false. In fact, Palin was an undergraduate at the University of Idaho when Obama was a community organizer.

In fact, when Obama was a community organizer, from 1985-1988, Palin was an undergraduate at the University of Idaho (until 1987) and then -- according to National Journal's Almanac of American Politics -- was a television sports reporter. Palin joined the Wasilla city council -- her first elected office -- in 1992, the year Obama served as director of Chicago's Project Vote! -- the local chapter of a national voter registration organization -- and began teaching at the University of Chicago Law School.

dunkelberg, I like this story. Dirty attacks like this one make McCain and the McCain camp look more and more desperate. A presidential candidate should not be allowed to get away with such a blatant lie.

Lie?  No, it's the truth. . . wait wait . . . let me refer you to my staff . . . it could be perceived as a misconception of the situation as it occurred in reality.  Yeah, that's it!

Ah yes, the double standards, once attacked cry murder, yet when attacking it is all fair game.

Yep, we liberate; they invade.

Plus you forgot to mention all teh experience Obama has as chair to the education foundation he held for years where he had almost daily contact with his close friend Ayers, the self-admitted terrorist who said Al-Qeda did not do enough.  Yes Obama has a lot more experience, so does Osama.............

Keep flying that lame flag, unless you want to post some credible links to actual information, not more musings from a dope-addled talk host.

The fact that Palin is a liar is of no consequence to you I am sure.

Back to Fight the Smears home

Next Generation Swift Boaters

In 2004, Harrold Simmons was the biggest funder of the manipulative smear group Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. In 2008, Simmons is the sole donor funding a vicious attack ad in some battleground states that uses tortured logic and clumsy innuendo to invent a tie between Barack Obama and terrorism.

The ad goes completely beyond the pale by cynically exploiting the tragedy of 9/11 in an unfounded connection with Chicago academic William Ayers. Then it claims that Ayers somehow “launched” Barack Obama’s career -- an assertion so outlandish that not even Simmons’ fellow discredited Swift Boater Jerome Corsi included it in his smear book.

The ad may even be a criminal violation of campaign finance laws. Simmons has previously been fined tens of thousands of dollars for campaign finance violations – including forging the signatures of his own daughters to make political contributions from trust funds.

Minneapolis Star Tribune: There's one man behind ads linking Obama, Ayers

"Texas billionaire Harold Simmons, a major backer of Republican John McCain's presidential campaign and Swift Boat Veterans for Truth four years ago, is the sole donor to an advertisement attacking Democrat Barack Obama over his relationship with one-time radical activist William Ayers."

National Journal: Spokesman and board member of American Issues Project Ed Failor was part of McCain “pay-to-play” endorsement scheme in Iowa

"When Ed Failor Jr., the executive vice president of Iowans for Tax Relief, signed on with 2008 White House hopeful John McCain this January, he professed fealty to the senator whom many viewed as the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination. "It is an honor to support a candidate who is committed to implementing commonsense conservative principles," Failor declared in a McCain campaign press release touting its recruitment of Failor and veteran Iowa GOP operative Karen Slifka. At the time, snagging Failor was widely viewed as a coup. He not only helps direct one of Iowa's largest political action committees, he also has ties to social conservatives as a board member of the Iowa Right to Life Committee. […] Not so obvious -- and not mentioned in the press release --was that Failor's enlistment carried a price tag: $10,000 a month. Failor contends that from the moment he began working for McCain, his role as a hired gun was widely understood. "I don't think anybody who knew Iowa politics would be surprised that I served as a consultant," Failor told National Journal. But Failor's paid status came as something of a shock to at least one veteran Iowa GOP activist, Dave Roederer, who happens to be McCain's Iowa campaign chairman. And it wasn't until months after Failor signed on that Roederer learned how much the campaign was paying him. "I did not have a clue. And, frankly, I think it's horrible [that] that's what's happening," Roederer said. "And it's going to turn the dynamics of the caucus." What worries Roederer is that Failor is just the latest example of "pay-to-play" in Iowa. [National Journal, 7/21/07]

You also forgot his wonderful Christian organization he belonged to for many years.  You know the one that hates all whites.  He said he wasn't listening, so I guess we can give him a pass.

You and John McCain with your make believe politics.

Where does the church's tenet say it "hates all whites"?  Can you provide a link?  Can you back it up?

Where is it on the McCain website?

OK, the McCain campaign is formally opposed to Obama's church.

The fact the whole thing is a myth matters not; analyzing requires thinking and parrotting is just so much easier.

However, it does sell well to the small-minded and bigoted hero wannabes out there.  I must confess.

Perhaps someone made it up when he had drug flashback during a radio show?

Obviously you think you are cute otherwise you would not have posted your glamour shot.

Yet another pithy assault of logic.

So far, all you have done is act as a decoy from the truth of the matter.

Perhaps that is what McCain's campaign is all about in the long run.

Smoke and mirrors.

I am a non-smoker.

Clever retort.

I will get us back to the issue at hand.

Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) is a liar.

Gov. Sarah Palin (R-Alaska) is a liar.

Obama is a sexist and terrorist!

Biden is a FOOL!

Yes, stay focused.

Let's focus on McCain who was twice was an adulterer (that we know of).  Now, THAT is family values.

Now, where is that evidence on Obama?

Has the drug-addled diss jockey not gotten to that point yet?

I see attacks.  I see no evidence.  More of the Dark Campaigns of the GOP.  Stay out of the light and whisper lies in the shadows.

Please keep the comments on the topic of the story and not about attacking each other's profile pictures. Thanks.

As long as things said are really not mean, it is good to lightly vent in humor.  Too much seriousness can cause health problems, physical and mental.

Thanks for your response, however at NP we have a code of conduct that everyone must adhere to. If you want to lightly vent in humour at another persons' expense, do it elsewhere.

My only comment on yet another lie/smear that is exposed is that hypocrisy comes in all colours, but in election years, especially in red.
